US and Allied forces are conducting a major air operation focused on targeting Assad strongholds including the capital Damascus. It has been reported that multiple Tomahawk cruise missiles as well as combat aircraft took part in the strike.
At this time it is unclear what types were used but it is likely low observable aircraft such as the F-22 and B-2 were used to circumvent Syrian and Russia air defenses.
It is likely strikes will continue throughout the next 24 hours. Likely targets include airfields, aircraft shelters, ballistic missiles, command in control and air defenses. It hard to determine at this time how Russia and Pro Assad forces will respond.
