//The US State Department approves 12 F-35Bs for Singapore

The United States has approved the sale of up to 12 F-35Bs for the Singapore Air Force. The deal was approved by the State Department on  January 9th, 2020. This was after Singapore had requested 4 F-35Bs with an option for 12 total in 2019. The deal also includes up to 13 Pratt & Whitney F135 Engines. The Singapore Air Force currently operates 60 F-16C/Ds and 40 F-15SGs.

 

The Defense Security Cooperation Agency announced that “This proposed sale will support the foreign policy and national security objectives of the United States. Singapore is a strategic friend and Major Security Cooperation Partner and an important force for political stability and economic progress in the Asia Pacific region”
