A Greek Mirage 2000-5 has been reported to have crashed in the Aegean Sea after an apparent engagement with a Turkish F-16. The incident is the first of its kind in almost 20 years. The wreckage of the Mirage was found off the coast of Skyros.
Turkey and Greece have clashed before over disputed claims on the areas airspace. Although not well publicized unsafe encounters have taken place regularly in the past few days. Greece and Turkeys Air Forces are both part of NATO and both deploy F-16 Block 52s.
